International Democracy Day: KNPB Biak carry out peaceful demonstrations, although forbidden by Indonesian police

Biak, KNPBnews - 16 September 2013, police have issued bans to the West Papua National Committee (KNPB) Biak to conduct peaceful demonstrations but KNPB on its commitment to carry out a peaceful demonstration today.
Apollos Sroyer KNPB Biak chairman said today the people of West Papua in Biak peaceful protest to declare to the world that the right of self-determination of the people of West Papua have not been conducted in a fair and democratic. Agreements signed Indonesian government and the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands on August 15, 1962 in New York does not guarantee the exercise of the right of self-determination of the people of West Papua in a fair and democratic. UN gives legitimacy to the master agreement for Indonesian West Papua and denying the right of self-determination of the people of West Papua.
Today's action we do to support the Government of Vanuatu to bring West Papua to the Annual General Assembly of the UN in this year. And also we menyeruhkan the MSG countries to follow up on the MSG final decision June 19 to 21 2013 in the Kanaky about West Papua. Today's action we are doing under the pressure of police escorts and because the police forbade us to conduct peaceful demonstrations. However, in principle KNPB Biak remain peaceful action
